Tour Attendance Info: South Brisbane Cemetery
Getting There
📍 Meeting Point
We meet just inside the main cemetery gates on Annerley Road, Dutton Park — right across from the service station and Pound Street.
Please aim to arrive around 15 minutes before the tour starts, so we can kick off right on time.
đźš— Parking & Public Transport
There’s parking available inside the cemetery — just enter through the main gates on Annerley Road, and one of our guides will happily direct you.
Prefer public transport?
You’re in luck — Dutton Park Station is right nearby, and Boggo Road (Park Road) Station is just a short walk away. Bus 196 from the city stops near the main gates, and there’s an Eastern Busway stop next to the cemetery too.
For the latest train or bus times, check the Translink website.
đź’ˇ A quick favour:Â if you can, please avoid parking on nearby residential streets out of consideration for our local neighbours.
🥾 Walking difficulty
- Moderate (Grade 3) – Please note, due to the historic nature of the cemetery, this tour includes slow walking up hills, mostly over generally modified terrain (hardened earth, often less than 1200mm wide), which is mostly clear of intrusions and obstacles.
- If you have any medical concerns we should be aware of, please let us know before attending the tour.
🔦 What to Bring & Know Before You Go
👟 Dress for safety and comfort
- All attendees must wear enclosed footwear — no sandals or thongs, please. It’s all about keeping your feet safe as we wander among the headstones.
🎠Keep it respectful
- We love spooky stories, but no horror costumes or fancy dress — we’re here to honour the heritage and spiritual values of the cemetery.
🔦 Bring a torch — but not a spotlight
- A medium-brightness torch is perfect. Super-powered torches can ruin the night-time vibe, so leave the floodlights at home.
- Need one? We’ve got a few to hire for just $2 each (to be returned at the end of the tour).
🎥 Photos, Weather & Other Essentials
📸 Snap away — but no recording!
- Photography is encouraged (we love seeing your shots!), but please no audio or video recordings during the tour.
🌧 Weather watch
- Cemeteries and storms don’t mix. If weather conditions are dangerous (wet or windy), we may need to cancel for safety reasons. We’ll contact you before 6:00 pm on the day if that happens.
- If your tour is cancelled, you’ll be able to reschedule or request a full refund.
đźš« Tour Rules & Respect
- Please stay with the group and follow all safety instructions from your guide.
- No alcohol. Anyone intoxicated will be turned away — no exceptions.
- All kids under 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- No children under the age limit for the tour — sorry, but that means no babies or toddlers.
FOSBC accepts no responsibility for injury or loss if these rules aren’t followed.
